Quilt in a Day
Eleanor Burns
112 pg, full-color
Irish Chain is one of the most universally known patterns, dating to pre-American Revolutionary War times. The Irish Chain pattern may have been inspired by a similar Irish weaving pattern. Whatever its origin, it is a timeless pattern that continues to delight quilters. The original "Irish Chain in a Day" book was published in 1986 in a black and white format. Eleanor wanted to update the book and add balance to the quilt. The revised version contains 2 complete quilt patterns, the Single Irish Chain and the Double Irish Chain. Geared toward the beginner quilter, the single chain is easy and fun to make. It guides a novice step-by-step through every phase of starting and finishing the quilt. Double Irish Chain is more complex and offers the seasoned quilter a challenge. Illustrations are provided for marking, pinning, quilting, and binding the projects.
